Students at TKCA

If you've read about classical Christian education, then you know that the ancients divided all of learning into seven liberal arts. The first three were known as The Trivium, Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric.

These lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Students are taught the fundamental skills through which all further learning takes place. In the pre-grammar stage we teach the fundamentals of reading, writing, mathematics, social interaction, and important foundational facts about the world in which they live. Your student will also be introduced to the principals of Self-Governance, Personal Responsibility and Accountability.

As students enter 3rd grade, they're of an age when memorization is fun. We capitalize on that by teaching facts and basic thinking skills: rules of phonics and spelling and how to use them, rules of grammar and understanding good sentence structure, poems, the vocabulary of foreign languages, the stories of history and literature, descriptions of plants and animals and the human body, how numbers work and the basics of mathematical thinking.
